KAPAAU — Children were playing on the playground once again at Kamehameha Park Saturday. It had been closed for at least a month, according to two local parents visiting with kids in tow that day.
County Parks &Recreation closed the playground for repairs with no confirmed date to reopen it. When District 9 Councilman Tim Richards was informed he asked what needed to be done and contacted Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) for help last week.
Richards and soldiers visiting PTA from California met at the park Friday to sand and repaint the swing sets and other areas needing refurbishing.
